Badminton: Congratulations to our U14girls, U 16 boys and girls plus our two division 1 girls teams who have all qualified to represent Clare in the Munster Schools Badminton finals in UL on January 29th. A big thanks to their coaches Ms Sarah Devane and Mr John Daly.

Camogie: Our Senior team won the Clare School’s Shield beating St Caimin’s, Shannon in the final. They also reached the Munster Intermediate semi-final. The U16½ team won the Munster A North final beating St Mary’s, Nenagh. Our 1st Year team played in the Tipperary blitz and they were just pipped at the post by Borrisokane, the outright winners of the competition. Well done to coaches Ms Minogue and Ms Moloney.

Swimming: The following swimmers took part in the Munster schools swimming gala in UL on December 7th. Rowan Barrett, Finn McGeever, Finn Looney, Leon Kerin, Sinead Dwyer, Devlin Staunton, Emma Moltzer, Ellen Frahill, Lily O’Brien and Aoibheann Rainford. They represented St Anne’s in 26 races, got to a number of finals in a range of events and between them they won 2 relays golds, 2 individual golds, 1 individual silver and 1 individual bronze. Well done to all concerned.
Hurling: The Senior hurling team were beaten by Tulla in the 2nd round of the Munster B competition at the end of November. The team gave a heroic performance without the services of current Clare Minor Mikey O’ Shea who was injured. They won the first round of the Clare Cup competition, beating Rice College, Ennis. 1st Year & U15 Munster and Clare competitions commence at the end of January. Well done to coaches Mr Gleeson, Mr Murray & Mr Hayes.
1st, 2nd, 3rd Year Boys’ Soccer: Training is well attended every Wednesday evening. A 3rd Year team played in a blitz and they got to the final. Many thanks to coach Mr Peadar Lyons.
Football: Both U16 and senior footballers have qualified for the 2nd round of the Clare Cup competitions. Attendance at training is excellent and the students are enjoying Mr Murray’s motivating speeches!
Athletics: We participated in the Clare Schools Cross Country Event in Ennis. Special mention to Finn Looney who won the minor boys race and the girl’s intermediate team of Ellen Lane, Katie Tynan and Hannah Mooney who finished 3rd.
Basketball: Eithne Walsh, 3rd Year student, Karen Ryan and John Gleeson are coaching 1st Year girls’ basketball on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. They competed in a blitz before Christmas. These girls have great potential and great credit is due to Eithne for all her encouragement and organisation.
Missionvale: Mr O’ Brien and 4th Year students Michael O’ Shea, Ben King, Emma Collins and Emer Mooney are travelling to Missionvale, South Africa on January 24th. €11,000 has been raised. This year’s project is the construction and painting of a clothing warehouse.
